2010 Winston-Salem Veterans Day Parade

November 13, 2010: There were 13 NC Subvets from the Nat Greene and Tarheel Bases at this year’s parade sponsored by the Forsyth County Veteran’s Council. Best weather yet for this parade and the number of spectators was the largest that we have seen for this parade. It is the still least attended parade of those that we participate in. After the parade 6 of us visited Bill Bradburn at his home who is one of our WWII Subvet members. Age has caught up with Bill who had participated in many of the parades. Our last parade for this year will be the Wilson Christmas Parade held on the afternoon of December 4th and that evening we will hold our annual Pearl Harbor Dinner. 1

2010 Asheboro Veterans Day Parade

November 11, 2010: We had 16 NC Subvets from the Carolina-Piedmont, Nat Greene, and Tarheel Bases at this year’s parade. The spectators this year were in greater numbers than previous years. The Parade Chairman called to inform that we won the Second Place Award and we will be receiving a check for $50.00 as our prize. 01

2010 Old Soldiers Parade

The Old Soldiers Parade was held on Thursday, August 19 and we had 16 NC Subvets from the Nathanael Greene and Tarheel Bases at this year's parade.  Most thought the turnout of parade watchers was greater than previous years, which have always been great. 01

2010 Iredell County Independence Celebration Parade

We had 25 Subvets from the Carolina-Piedmont and Tarheel Bases turnout for this year's parade in Troutman.  The 3 WWII Subvets present were Joe Clark, Bill Morris, and Bill Whelan.  In the group picture, Bill Morris was hiding behind Chuck Jensen, so if you count the Subvets, there are only 24.  The cool weather this year was great while waiting for the parade to start compared to the two previous years. 01 02 03 04

2010 Faith Parade

Here are some pictures from this year's Faith parade.  We had 21 Subvets from the Carolina Piedmont and Tarheel Bases, including 2 of our WWII Subvets Joe Clark and Bill Whelan, at this year's parade.  The number of spectators were the largest of any parades we have participated in with the possible expectation of the Azalea Festival Parade.  In one of the pictures, Joe Clark met an unusual parade spectator who had her friend with her.

Creed and Purpose

SubVets National Logo USSVI Website

To perpetuate the memory of our shipmates who gave their lives in the pursuit of duties while serving their country. That their dedication, deeds and supreme sacrifice be a constant source of motivation toward greater accomplishments. Pledge loyalty and patriotism to the United States of America and its Constitution.

In addition to perpetuating the memory of departed shipmates, we shall provide a way for all Submariners to gather for the mutual benefit and enjoyment. Our common heritage as Submariners shall be strengthened by camaraderie. We support a strong U.S. Submarine Force.

The organization will engage in various projects and deeds that will bring about the perpetual remembrance of those shipmates who have given the supreme sacrifice. The organization will also endeavor to educate all third parties it comes in contact with about the services our submarine brothers performed and how their sacrifices made possible the freedom and lifestyle we enjoy today.
